The project stages

The project is divided into five interlinked stages:

A historical landscape analysis to chart the spatial and temporal formation and alteration of the winegrowing landscapes and the driving forces behind them.

In cooperation with heritage conservationists a cadastre of the cultural landscape will be drafted on the basis of which an assessment of the cultural value and the habitat quality of the vineyards can be made.

The third stage concerns the determination of the perception of young people in relation to ‘their’ native landscapes and their conservation value.

A Delphi analysis should provide insights into the attitudes and perceptions of the producers and the conservationists in relation to traditional vineyards. From these interviews possible perspectives for the future development of the vineyards will be derived.

The presentation of the results in work shops, in front of all of the participating interest groups, will conclude the project. A guideline for the conservation and development of traditional vineyards will be created.
