• Survey and evaluation of forest biodiversity, sustainable forest management, tropical rainforests (focus: Ethiopia)
• Protected area planning and management, priority setting in nature conservation
• International environmental policy, Convention on Biological Diversity

• Floristic composition and affinities of the Ethiopian coffee forest vegetation
• The protection of forests under global biodiversity and climate policy
